I decided to not keep playing that save file and started a new game from scratch. Eventually, after about a year of in-game time had passed, the game crashed while I was playing, causing me to lose all of my progress from that patrol. This was the point of no return for the game's stability.Īfter this, the game would no longer load save files where the boat was out on patrol, so once I started a war patrol, I had to commit to it. A few days later, the game failed to load a save file for the first time, corrupting it in the process, which in turn caused me to lose a bit of progress. This freezing issue continued to happen as I kept playing. This wasn't a big deal as the game didn't crash and I was able to keep playing after the game unfroze itself. A few patrols later, the game froze for about 10 seconds for the first time. This wasn't much of a problem, as I just used a slightly slower compression speed. It might be different for you depending on your specific computer, but in my experience the first thing that I noticed was an increase in lag when using the time compression feature. After conducting a few patrols, the game begins to become slightly unstable. HOWEVER: Be prepared to face bugs and glitches the further you play in your campaign. If you are interested in the game, then I would recommend playing it. Games like this are typically pretty niche, so you will likely know if this is a type of game you are interested in or not. The game spans the entire war from 1939 to 1945, and you can start your career as late as 1943 in various historical U-Boat flotillas that are harbored in different ports and sport different types of U-Boats. Silent Hunter 3 strives to be an accurate simulation of commanding a German U-Boat during the Second World War. Well, I made it over 60 hours without any game-breaking crashes or bugs hitting me.
